BODYGlass is an experimental performance creation and art exhibition, featuring the diverse collaboration of multiple disciplines: dance, choreography, glass art, clothing and textile (fashion) original sound, photography and video art. All disciplines merge under one roof at Centre A in conjunction with the hottest dance event of the summer, 2007 Dancing on the Edge Festival.

Co. ERASGA has commissioned award-winning glass artist Jeina Morosoff and costume/textile designer Katherine Soucie to create wearable and portable glass pieces for the performance and installation. In addition, composer Ted Hamilton creates a new riveting original score. To top it all, the powerhouse meeting and choreographic work features two of Canada’s most highly acclaimed contemporary dance artists, Vancouver’s Alvin Erasga Tolentino and Toronto’s Peter Chin.

BODYGlass is a seduction to the fragility, translucence and solid state of glass in relation to the body and soul. Glass, as a slow moving fluid object, fascinates and offers an enigmatic source with three-dimensional affinity to the mystery of our skin and moving body.

BODYGlass will provoke audiences to move and experience the dance and glass pieces within an open space. The glass art costume installations, viewable at the gallery as an exhibition by day, are transform into dynamic, moving performances at night. The result is a rare and multi-layered production not to be missed!

Produced with support from the Canada Council, City of Vancouver, BC Arts Council, BC (Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch), Centre A, Firehall Arts Centre and Dancing On the Edge Festival.
